I find one of Basil's lines to him increasingly necessary these days when dealing with 'Customer Services' on the telephone:

Now, please, please, try to understand before one of us dies.

Will never cease to raise a smile in Casa Pulcinella.

            'This Basil'.

            'This fork'.

            'This smack on head!'

I disliked Johnathon Ross even before 'Sachsgate' but now I take great pleasure in switching him OFF whenever he comes on tv.

He was one of the best. It was rather an unfortunate incident with that event taking place involving Jonathan Ross. RIP

When Andrew Sachs came to the studio to record commentary for documentaries, I always half expected to meet Manuel. He was a superb expert as an artist with voiceovers, and that's a talent possessed by few. It was very nice to have met such a kindly and unassuming man with a perfect voice.

Always a pleasure to watch a truly great farceur at work; a masterclass in so many aspects.
                        RIP, Andrew

Forty years of laughter, and counting.... Another one out of the very top drawer no longer with us

Steven Isserlis reminds us on Twitter that a great fan of Andrew Sachs was Carlos Kleiber - who, it was rumoured, wrote Sachs a fan letter...

                            "What is wit-nit?"

I have deployed it on a number of occasions.....!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                              Very sad news.

If the rumours of a thirteenth episode of Fawlty Towers were true, tonight would have been the night to have aired it but alas they are not true.

Only one episode - the twelfth - was recorded following the delay caused by the BBC strike in 1978-79.
