Cracking episode, explaining some things, setting up the finale, with a couple of stomach-twisting, tense 'individuals go into hostile building' scenes worthy of The Bridge's Saga Norén entering a darkened industrial complex in the middle of the night with no back-up whatever...."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's true, you remind me of passing thoughts watching the programme - it did also occur to me that when the two soldiers were staking out the village house, it was unlikely they could have done so unnoticed (even in a civilian car).
I think I must watch these things un-analytically - that sort of thing I sort of accept if the narrative flow is good enough, and I'm not unduly bothered."...the isle is full of noises,
