    Well done, Wilson...

Blimey, I said that didn't I....be it in abbreviated form....I can't put me whole intellect towards it, it's only a TV detective....but considering him and Baptise were conspiring one moment, then does not even mention his disappearence or his name again....

Wasn't that a different character (a "regular" policeman) in a different country? I thought the B&Q trepanee was the bloke who fancied Brigadier Stone's daughter (one of the Military Police squad) ... I may be wrong ...

I haven't read this thread, nor seen either series, but am picking up signs that this series is outstanding.

Series 2 is no longer available on iPlayer in its entirety, but I imagine will be repeated ere long.

Can Series 2 be satisfactorily watched without having seen Series 1?

                Thanks for thoughts, kb

Yes - one character in common (the detective) but plots entirely unconnected. I haven't seen series 1. A terrific conclusion last night, I thought - the action suspense bit 15-20 minutes before the end, then a gently paced winding down, taking us through the collateral damage.

I found the series was gripping but I found the constant time shifts irritating and confusing. Then there is the difficult to believe premise which the whole drama hangs on: that the parents of a missing girl would fail to clearly recognise that the girl who turned up wasn't their daughter.

It (or something like it) a not uncommon plot device - Martin Guerre/Sommersby.....

                      Tremendous acting throughout

I did and thoroughly enjoyed the second series. (As RT says, only one character connecting the two series.)

But then the "girl" who reappeared several years later was by then a young woman - and, as Baptiste pointed out, people can believe anything if they want to believe it enough. And the mother quickly became convinced that it wasn't her daughter, her emotional health damaged by her beliefs conflicting with the DNA "evidence".

Nope - my bad: you were right all along - Baptiste's German colleague and the endrilled were one and the same character: Jorn Lenhardt.

Very satisfactory conclusion to this excellent series with terrific acting throughout. It seemed always possible for me and Mrs C to suspend disbelief. I was left with one thought however: Does Stone really have Alzheimers?

                                That thought occurred to me....

As Andrew Billen says today, "There will be distinguished acting medals all round".
