As the police chief with a penchant for sniffing corpses in the hit drama Trapped, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is melting Icelanders’ hearts
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Am catching up with this slowly on the iplayer, up to episode 4 so far, enjoying it more the further I go. It's certainly a drama where the landscape plays a gripping character, and the weather another. Underpinning, colouring and playing a part in everything, and magnificent on the screen. I also love the brief bird's eye shot of the waves in the titles.

I also like the way the camera seems to stray unnecessarily to apparently unimportant little reactions from time to time, which bolsters its authenticity. I found the scene I watched tonight, of quasi reconciliation between the killed girl's father and her boyfriend in episode 4, well done, and generally like very much what I've seen so far. The actors playing the Chief of police, Andri, and Hinrika the female police officer in particular seem pretty convincing.

(Though Andri's physical appearance always suggests to me a possible alternative title to the series of, 'Santa Claus, the Early Years' )
