I hesitate to say this in the presence of the quality ladies'n'gemmun on this 'ere Forum, but I've found and continue to find SPIN compulsive viewing.

Yes it's little more than 'airport fiction for TV' and is arguably misogynistic (all the main women are pathetic, but then all the main men are vile (save the lead, perhaps, 'Kapita'), so it's dishonours more-or-less even). But the first series and now the second have kept me watching. I especially like the loathsome right-wing leader 'Deleuvre' played with skin-crawling patrician pomposity by Philippe Magnan (even the character's name suggests something slimy and invertebrate http://www.dinosoria.com/pieuvre.htm )

It doesn't irritate me, but I do see Anna's point (although it doesn't put me off):

As for Spin - I did see until episode 6 but then I found it immediately goes into series II and III and I'm afraid it's a lot of French tosh that thinks it's more profound and weighty than it is so I'll not be watching anymore.

Have been immensely irritated by 'Spin', and have given up. I know it's French an' all, but really...

I'll join you, Caliban, I find it great fun and what more do I want on a Friday evening? Deleuvre is wonderful, and I enjoyed Marjorie's having to be presidential on his sickbed - shades of Mitterand's last days, or was he out of office by then? Do wish I could get more of the cuss words, there seems quite a variety, all given in the subtitles by the f-word. Do hope nothing nasty is going to happen to Kapita's daughter.
