    Shetland - BBC1

... talking of mysteries, have been glued to and gripped by Shetland but where is the next episode in the schedules, certainly not next Friday, just says 'coming soon'

Shetland is good, isn't it? Landscapes and Ciaran Hinds

Next week bloody football apparently takes priority - but Shetland is back the week following...

Thanks so much, both, for reminding me of this. It's classy, indeed.

Worthy indeed, now, Richard. And yes - with Hinds, to boot, as vinrouge says - Henshall is a terrific actor.

(Saw him live a few years ago, playing one of Willy Loman's sons, with Brian Dennehy titanic as the eponymous 'Salesman' - overwhelming.)

Mrs PG is very invested in this series. She's written to the Radio Times expressing her displeasure with football taking precedence.

I'm sure she can expect a patronising reply...

I thought we were going in 2 x episode chunks, but seems not. Now left with, er not quite, a cliff hanger until the next one is broadcast.

Excellent series. I've not been to Shetland, but it is not unlike the Western Isles in some respects. Doug Henshall is a great actor, and it is good to see Julie Graham as well.

The last series was based entirely on Fair Isle, in and around the bird observatory, making for a suitably Agatha Christie-ish claustrophobic atmosphere. There was the obligatory ornithological solecism (see 'Endeavour' thread) but apart from that was excellent, as was the first series.

Yes, I had automatically concluded that it was filmed in Shetland, and I think that the town scenes are Lerwick.

Just watched parts 1&2 on consecutive nights. Can't wait for a week on Friday - quite thrilling really. Terrific scenery and Ciarin Hinds is terrific.

Agree with all of above - excellent series and not a tiger in sight ...

I thought that the serious issue concerning Tosh was handled extremely sensitively and well in episode 5. It added much to this really enjoyable series. James Cosmo scary...I look forward to the final episode next week...in the meantime I see they are showing season 1 on the Drama channel starting this Wednesday. Haven't seen either of the previous series.

... and yes, he is! Just when you thought the scary man (Hinds) had gone, along comes a worse one!

Crickey, yes! Script, photography and acting (from everybody, but especially Alison O'Donnell - understated , suppressed fury which just couldn't be contained).

Is it really the final episode next? The series has zipped along. But we'll have to wait another week to see the conclusion - some twit (apologies for the typo) at the Beeb has decided that this Friday evening will be devoted to watching men with oval balls stuffing their faces into each others' bottoms!

Yes, the careful study of the post-rape scenario has been a real revelation and brilliantly acted too. As well as watching the men around it who are puzzled and even scared of the mood swings and terrors. A serial that is gathering weight as it goes on.

For those who haven't seen it - Ann Cleeve wrote an article in the Guardian at the weekend about the rape, well worth reading (although she didn't script it, this series is based on her novels) http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...-horror-enough

I only discovered the Drama channel at the weekend (they were showing the complete BBC 2011 Great Expectations), I think it said the original Shetlands would start on Wednesday 9th March? I recall we had a thread about them, a lot of talk about Brian Cox and wavering accents!
