Deutschland 83 - Channel 4 / The Same Sky - Netflix
Hiya Ferney,
Yes I've removed it and re-posted it in context. But we are on a 'Deutschland 83' thread.
Hello Stan, it was because Spin was mentioned on this thread and I didn't think it really worth starting a new topic on it as I doubt apart from myself and 8thObs no-one watched it! I'm still watching Deutschland because it's a bit different and it's really quite funny in parts.
You could always watch War and Peace, it's Eastenders with nicer wallpaper --- ''ere wass goin' on?"
Oi you! Get aht o'my Palace!!
cf The newly-ennobled Princess Windsorov

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I watched it !! Was gripped !! (To continue the outrageous off-topic digressions!)

....Ah but, Ah but....I was codswalloping about D83....
"Feature length" finale tonight, of this greatly enjoyable series!
Anyone who missed this rollicking story, and who likes a bit of thud and blunder Cold-War style, can see it all as part of C4's foreign-language series collection: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/d...mand/62893-001
As an interesting footnote, I had lunch this week with a contact who is a former army major and who in 1983 was stationed very close to the action, not far from the border. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if there was a covert element in what he was up to. Anyway, the point is that he also has been absorbed by this series, and said it conjures absolutely the detailed feel of what it was like to be there at the time.

Deutschland 83 - utterly superb. Flawless scene setting. Excellent acting. Spot on story line. What's not to like?
Spin, I suppose....tediously boring for this household. We started watching a couple of episodes ad have dutifully recorded the remaining episodes but they remain unwatched and I suspect will be deleted.
I see the second series started last night. Ho hum!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has been thoroughly entertained and gripped by this! According to the RT it's maintained a steady 3 million viewers and is the UK's most successful foreign language series (although I thought The Killing had more?)
As for Spin - I did see until episode 6 but then I found it immediately goes into series II and III and I'm afraid it's a lot of French tosh that thinks it's more profound and weighty than it is so I'll not be watching anymore.

The wife and I just started watching and are up to episode 4, so please don't let the Stasi out of the bag..
