I believe that Glastonbury 2000 was Bowie’s first live concert for several years, apart from some warm up gigs at the Roseland ballroom in New York, and that he was also recovering from laryngitis. This probably accounts for his nervousness at the beginning, and his voice not being as strong as usual. He was in much better voice in a concert at the BBC radio theatre 2 days later.

Nevertheless, watching last night I thought it was pretty special.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."
