To improve the Radio Times, I would make two changes:
    1. Increase the number of radio listing pages from 2 to 4 per day. Do this by removing the two pages per day, promoting TV programmes.
    2. Send Alison Graham on indefinite gardening leave.

I did send a note quite recently to RT pointing out the unfair discrepancy between the number of radio pages and TV pages per day, Eine.

I'll pass on your point 2 though!

That seems like rather a lot of unnecessary trouble and inconvenience. Why didn't you just not read the television pages?

            Perhaps it was poetic licence.

In the post today I received, from the radio times, an offer to subscribe for 12 months for just £1.00 per annum I'm not sure how they got my address, after 12 months it goes to £24.99 per 6 months but I can cancel anytime. I think I may go for the 12 months for a quid!

mercia, I guess they are counting on people not to cancel the direct debit after the 12 month period and obtain it at 96p per issue. But, still, to me, sounds unprofitable? Adding in the cost of 1st class postage?

You're right - I think it's 'inertia marketing' (as distinct from 'confusion marketing' which was explained to me by an ex-BT employee).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Just seeing the television pages, in all their unnecessary glory and detail, raised my blood pressure. Discarding them was far more healthy.

And I suppose it made the magazine considerably lighter (very light indeed, in fact).

No, 12 issues for just £1.00 It says "Yes, send me my first 12 issues for just £1 per annum and delivered every Monday by first class post" then you revert to 96p per issue

I think it has to be a mistake. A couple of days ago, an Asda store was selling petrol for 12.9p a litre. That was a mistake too.

Tomorrow I will go online to the RT and enter my promotional code and see what it says and report back
