    Poldark 2015

OK, Wolf Hall it ain't, but did anyone else tune in to watch the latest BBCOne Drama series? I wasn't familiar with the original shown way back when, but quite enjoyed this ...

I understand there was quite a buzz about the handsome lead actor, but I thought he played his part well enough. Not just a pretty face.

Quite enjoyed it - like you the original series passed me by. Somewhat formulaic, etc etc if I wanted to be critical. But perfect for 9pm on a Sunday at the end of a busy weekend. I always enjoy Warren Clarke's performances too (the late Warren Clarke).

Ah yes, 'in memory of' at the end noted - didn't know he's passed away.

If anything I found Elisabeth (Heida Reed) a tad disappointing in the pretty face dept. And a rather humble role for an established actor such as Phil Davis, no?

Are you suggesting Clemency should have been given the part of Elizabeth.......

Quite enjoyed it, as I did the original......is it true Robin Ellis makes a cameo appearance?

I have a vague recollection of the original and thought the new series was well made, given the genre.

What fascinated me was Poldark's scar which seemed very odd and unrealistic to me (well we don't want to spoil the pretty boy's face, do we?).

....well, I suppose we'll be expecting a newly made The Onedin Line fairly soon then....

                Yes according to t'Radio Times.

Jonas Kaufmann is also joining the cast, it seems...

Back O.T., maybe this is worth watching then. The original was one of those boring, grainy 'pre-school week gloom' programmes the grown ups watched, and had me escaping from the room into a Biggles adventure (or similar) borrowed from the library...

I remember the original Poldark as my mother was completely hooked . It was rather good and a bit more gritty than this and I cannot see this rather dandyish Warleggan being a patch on the late great Ralph Bates
