in terms of it being an adaptation of two books, haven't we already finished with Wolf Hall and moved onto Bring Up The Bodies ? [not that I've read either] - or is that the point that has already been made upthread ?

Bring up the Bodies begins in 1535 with Henry's progress and his stay at Wolf Hall and ends in 1536, which is a year before Anne gets the chop! That is, of course, if the adaptation stays true to the book.

I see (I think). So we're two-thirds through the TV series but not into the second book yet.

It seems so mercia because tonight's penultimate episode is entitled Crows (the first chapter of Bodies) and the final episode is Master of Phantoms (the last chapter) so I guess these two episodes are the whole book.
(I do hope you're also enjoying it!)

No, that's not right - Bring up the Bodies ends with Anne's execution, which was in May 1536.

Oops! My mistake jean - I haven't as yet finished the book!

I hope the descendants of Norfolk are enjoying his apparent uncouthness as much as I am

They're noted recusants, aren't they? So the Catholics won't like it any more than they'll like her portrayal of St Thomas More.

not that I'm aware I'm half expecting Norfolk to headbutt someone, as 'he' did in Boys From The Blackstuff

                          Accepted!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

The reference to the 'shroud of Lazarus' had me laughing out loud.

I jut feel very sorry for anyone who has not read the book.
And did Mantel use the 'c' word? I certainly don't remember her doing so.
