    Best Films of the 1970's

This era in cinema was the least interesting for me, but some films stand out:

    Chinatown
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
    All the President's Men
    Paper Moon
    Annie Hall
    The Last Picture Show

    What is in your list?

Our local 'art-house' cinema held a competition for appropriate double bills. I was somewhat perplexed when my suggestion of 'Train-spotting' and 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' was met with a deafening silence...

Some good ones above. My daughter's a film editor and for my 60th in 2009 she gave me a DVD for each decade of my life so far. The Seventies was Chinatown. I would add Barry Lyndon to the list - also one of her favourites (+ Schubert Piano Trio).

                        + Mean Streets, Apocalypse Now

                        and three absolute favourites:
                        The Conversation
                        Truffaut: Day for Night
                        Fellini: Amarcord
