A new channel has appeared on my Freeview menu - "CBS Action" (Ch. 70) - which has lots of series I remember from the 70s, with some great and evocative signature tunes: 'High Chaparral', 'Bonanza', 'Streets of San Francisco', the original 'Star Trek'...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

CBS Action sounds like something from the Adult channel you get on hotel room televisions ... I'm told

What might the initial CBS stand for?

Unless it's a Hungarian name of course

              Ah..? Can't see any offers!

But I forgot a series with a cracking theme tune that's on the channel I mentioned:

              'Hawaii Five-O' !!

Not sure how far you have to go to constitute nostalgia but when the kids were growing in the early years of the 21st century Saturday mornings must-watch was on Channel 4 for the Tintin cartoons made in the 90s, I think. Great re-presentations of the comic books. The theme tune and opening credits still take me back to those mornings.
Theme of the series, extracted from the credits. If you need better quality than this, try getting one of the DVDs (or one of their episodes in video format) ...

*Can't find one with the British opening credits, only the tune.

Isn't it sad when young people start to slide into senescence ...

'Offer' is the term used currently to describe the totality of programmes on telly & radio channels

And this time don't shoot the messenger

                      Whatever happened to nursery rhymes?

I found this on YouTube. What a bizarre presentation!

For a more modern YouTube version, there's this one from an amateur orchestra:

Couple of classics there, Cals. Loved the Munsters and the theme.

Talking of Grandstand, here is the later theme tune

so good that the Motors accidentally borrowed it for their excellent hit record, " Forget about you".

Thanks for the Casey theme, Cal - one of my favourites too. So much of its time. Reminded me of Whirlybirds which I hadn't thought of for a long time - much more dramatic theme...and desilu I see and from 1959 if I read my Roman numerals correctly.
