    Bad (Literary) Sex.

Last week, 2011's Bad Sex Awards nominees were announced. I paid very little attention to the announcement and could not name the nominees.....for I have a positive aversion to 'sex scenes' in novels.

Frankly, I don't think 'the act' (in any of its mulititudinous permutations) has ever been described in anything other than cringe-inducing terms. Even very great/famous novelists have descended to risibility when thus challenged.

What would be your own nominees for the Bad Sex Awards (ranging across all of world literature)? Or do you know of anyone who has succeeded her where so many others have failed?

I'd nominate me, for starters. Out of kindness, I won't mention any others...

The entire works of D.H .Lawrence . Lady Chatterley's lover is one of the funniest books I have ever read for all the wrong reasons.
