    New forum

When I've remembered how to set up a new forum properly, this will appear as a board in Arts and Ideas. Currently it's in the wrong place I will move all the R3 related 'speech' threads there, especially Drama on 3 and The Verb. It will also be for general drama, poetry and literature. The existing board will be for film, television and other (visual) arts topics.

A bit of further clarification (now that the forum is in the right place):

Radio 3 Arts will include topics specifically on Radio 3 speech/arts programmes, Drama on 3, the Sunday feature (unless it's about music), The Verb, Belief; also speech/writing/reading related topics, language, poetry; and topics like philosophy/thought which are 'academic' rather than general topics of contemporary interest. Any R4 programmes on similar topics will be here too.

I hope I've moved over all the appropriate threads.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I think that's a good move, ff. The only thing I would say is that there are a few threads on R4 drama on the old renamed board and I think some posters might expect to see them here. After all, it's comparatively rarely that an R4 drama is commented on here, and generally when there is something that is out of the ordinary (i.e. not run-of-the-mill R4 drama stuff). I have found some R4 dramas - the longer ones - to be as good as R3 plays (in fact sometimes more R3-like than some of the stuff that is on R3).

The intention was that they should be here, and some are. If I missed some it may have been because I didn't recognise what they were - I was just going by the title.

There are grey areas (Words & Music?) and the matter of 'general debate' (on the 'other' board) seems to me different from current events/politics on Platform 3, and from 'philosophy' (this board) in a more narrow sense. But there don't have to be hard and fast rules.

OK, ff. I just noticed the David Edgar play, Playing with Fire, there. But it doesn't matter so much about the old discussions as long as the new ones will be here.
