Very enjoyable play on Sunday about Vaughan Williams and Ursula around the time of the Queen's Coronation. Sympathetic portrayal of the composer by Oliver Ford Davies, a fine actor who we have seen several times on stage in Shakepearean roles - now 83, slightly old than VW was at the time. Interesting smaller roles in the contrasting figures of the Organist and Master of the Choristers at the Westminster Abbey, the uptight and self-doubting, William McKie and the genial Abbey organist, Ozzie Peasgood. Also a surprise at the end with the appearance of James Wilkinson as Himself, the details of which I won't divulge, in case others would like it a surprise.
