Speech programmes on Radio 3 - Two good repeats on Friday (29.7.11)

I very much enjoyed two repeats on R3 tonight - "Harvesting The Archive", the thoughtful literary celebration of the work of a writer and thinker John Berger, sadly not available on I-player, and the very entertaining Essay from counter tenor Michael Chance on the life of an opera singer. Really well written and presented, I thought, and it can be heard for the next seven days. Highly recommended even if you are not an opera fanatic.

Jamie Andrews looks through the works writer John Berger donated to the British Library.

Countertenor Michael Chance describes the challenge of being an opera singer on the road.

It is marked 'Coming Soon' in the iPlayer.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
