    Anton Lesser reads Mantel

Absolute pleasure these days from the reading by Anton Lesser of Hilary Mantel’s latest, The Mirror & the Light

By some margin, my favourite ‘spoken word’ voice of the current era, I’ve listened and re-listened to parts of this (a lot of the writing’s exceptional too, of course). I’m about half-way through...

Most conveniently caught via the three ‘omnibus’ episodes now available via Radio 4Extra:

Side-thought: the search facility on “BBC Sounds” is lousy. I wanted to see if anything else with Anton Lesser was available. Searching all combinations of “Anton” and “Lesser” didn’t even produce the Mantel episodes, merely various “Anthony”s and a programme about the Lesser Black-Backed Gull

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

This search seems to work - 29 pages (not sure if they are all available though). I've always looked out for his narrations - usually a sign of quality of the piece.
