The American socialist, trade unionist & presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs(1885-1926) is the subject of ‘Great Lives’ on Radio 4(6 Jan) proposed by Reginald D. Hunter.
Unlikely that presenter, Matthew Parris will be sympathetic to Debs.

That's why I've always voted Liberal. I was pleasantly surprised when we got a coalition government which meant Liberals in the Cabinet, but , just my luck, it wasn't the most distiguished administration in recent history.
