One programme per week on a Friday, I believe. (Extended to an hour.)

Ah, many thanks! (I thought someone would be able to save me a trawl to see if I’d missed a mention of it… )

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's moved to Radio 4, yes. As Andrew says, the new hour-long slot is on a Friday.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Moving it to Radio 4 means the weak Free / Three Thinking pun doesn’t work any more. They should rename it Fore Thought.

You know, that never struck me before (b4)!

Looking at Radio Times, it’s not going to be quite the same programme - live now apparently, and looking at “the ideas shaping our lives today, looking back at the week and picking out some themes and questions which have caught their attention” - a Stop the Week reboot?

Free Thinking has certainly had some interesting and informative contributors, but I would suggest a proportion may actually be up their own fundament

So, yes, Free Thinking has been dropped (as not suitable for R4)?

Quite… I only really listened to Matthew Sweet’s editions, and even some of his episodes featured a proportion of the proportion you mention e.g. when examining some little-known 1960s Czech sci-fi film or similar

The RT suggests a swing away from cultural arcana to more “zeitgeist-driven” matter.

Good news for me that MS seems to be a fixture; otherwise, yes, the R3 programme has in effect been dropped…

Yes, I heard a few live at The Glasshouse (formerly known as Sage Gateshead) when Free Thinking weekends were broadcast from there, some were very good and some definitely up there!

No that would be one of their endless doc series on the aftermath of Covid
