    A firm diary note for a new series,- Drama: Unmade Movies - Harold Pinter's adaptation of Conrad's 'Victory', R4. 14.30-16.00hrs, Sat, 28 Feb. Richard Eyre directs a love story set in the Dutch East Indies in 1900, narration by Simon Russell Beale; a reclusive Swedish baron embarks on an affair with an English violinist, Bjarne Henriksen and Vanessa Kirby.

    I heard it this afternoon, and greatly enjoyed it, had not realized it was the start of a new series.
    (I'm afraid that if I am at home on Saturday afternoon I now usually ditch Saturday Classics and turn to R4 for their drama)

      Yes, fascinating listening. Simon Russell Beale has an admirable facility in energising the narrative, so much so, that the actors began to sound like mere cyphers! Several Pinteresque moments throughout and memory imagery of Richard Brooks's elegant but ponderous widescreen direction of "Lord Jim",
      (1964) provided almost the same scene-setting in the Dutch East Indies.
