Is there no end the BBC mania for bringing things up to date ?

I hope this doesn't mark the end of The Essay as we know it. When the live concerts start again on May 3, the Twenty Minutes interval feature - which The Essay more or less replaced - will return as well. The Essay was a very welcome innovation because the content kept a generally good standard, whereas Twenty Minutes was often reduced to someone with a microphone wandering around looking for people to talk to

Well, as far as I'm concerned there's no Essay next week though I'll probably listen to Do3. I wonder if you can have a 'New Mystery Play'? Isn't the whole point of the mystery plays that they were stories from the Old Testament? Still, I suppose it's like the 'Shakespeare Season' they had on television a few years back where they removed more or less everything that was Shakespeare and just did another update of the story ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
