....why anyone gets worked up by what a pseudonym says on an internet forum. It doesn't actually matter what they think...

Don't you think, though, ff, that in a sense we have over time got to know these phantoms? With one exception I know the identity of no one here, yet what they say, for good and for ill, seems very real to me. And I have to say that though I have often winced on behalf of one member or another at a cut that I believe is sharp and real, I also feel the urge to wade in on my own behalf. Mostly though when it gets too hot I get out of the kitchen.
