Well in principle yes, but most academic papers I know about in my field also have to be paid for by subscription unless you are a member of the publishing society concerned eg Audio Engineering Society [AES], IET or IEEE. Journalists can quote - but often get it wrong or put spin on things in my experience.

been around this a time or two is think Gordon; it is not paying so much as the prices they charge, especially these days when technology almost dissolves the cost of production .... especially when it is most likely a research council grant that paid the cost of the work ....

4C is a disaster

warming was most likely to reach about 4C above pre-industrial levels if the past decade's readings were taken into account.

That would still lead to catastrophe across large swaths of the Earth, causing droughts, storms, floods and heatwaves, and drastic effects on agricultural productivity leading to secondary effects such as mass migration.

doing something to avert the disaster could be one of the ways, apart from the odd £90bn in trade, that the EU is useful .... eh?
