..and something else to make life easier for our contributors

..who are property developers, builders, estate agents, local councillors .... gotta keep the lodges happy eh ..

time to get down to your town hall and start demanding declarations of interest with a vengeance eh
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

This sort of thing went on back in the early 70s - a nice little handout to a councillor for "advice" on circumventing protected woodland status for a private estate, and in the Green Belt. All so, so predictable.

How much more unlearning by those with power and money do we have to undergo???

I know what I'd like to do to that supercilious smirk.

Anyone been watching the BBC TV series 'The Planners'? About a range of planning issues, the characters who want to build, demolish, extend.... the objectors... the planning officers... the planning hearings... the decisions.... against the background of the relaxation of plannings regs.

I've no personal experience of planning (other than various not-to-instrusive things in the neighbourhood) but I've found the series riveting.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

This was discussed on the news this morning. A contributor commented that the Telegraph is campaigning against building on England's green & pleasant land.

There is, apparently, nothing illegal in this (the councillors, not the Telegraph campaigning) as long as they don't advise on their own patch. I think it should be illegal, wherever they are offering advice. There are rules about civil servants (& ministers?) taking jobs in industries related to their government jobs. The same thing should be applied to councillors.

What a good job Lateralthinking1 isn't here just at the moment, this sort of thing would drive him wild, for good personal reasons.

Does anyone have any news of Lats, btw?
