The prospect that there really is room for only one "lefty-baiter" might be seen by some as undermining the value of "lefty-baiting". That said, the very fact that Mili and his band, if successful at the next General Election, will broadly (if not blithely) follow in the cutting austerity path of the present "administration" seems to me to suggest that another reason why a single "lefty-baiter" is the maximum required is the dearth of electable "lefties" to "bait".

Anyway, given that the purported object of government austerity measures is to rid Britain of its deficit and its indebtedness - and given that the measures so far implemented have achieved almost nothing in those directions - I imagine that the introduction of further such cuts in public expenditure will continue indefinitely in the manner of piling Pelion upon Ossa, whoever is "in charge", until there's nothing left to cut; it might indeed turn into a kind of competition between the total national demise that will be the natural conclusion of such policies and the HS2 project, in terms of which is the more absurd and which might complete first...
