Possibly but this thread is full of overtly “ political “ statements which I was under the impression were solely for the Ideas etc dept.
Any opinion on the rights and wrongs of the Monarchy is overtly political. A perfectly valid subject for discussion but it has nothing to do with Radio Three’s (in my view quite laudable ) reaction to The Demise Of The Crown as I think it used to be referred to.

Back ON thread I am enjoying Radio Three much more at the moment. Solely classical music and little irrelevant jabber,
I agreee with your suggestion about a "Whither the Monarchy" thread; I also agree that it's effectively a different subject to that of this one.

I've just seen that there is already a "Democracy and Monarchy" thread initiated around a decade ago, so couldn't the excised posts on this one be moved there?

Indeed. I was amused to read my own post 64, as well as the others by MrGG and mangerton. I hope Mr GG is OK -though I have a sneaking, but not proven, suspicion that he might look in from time to time.

From his FB postings, he seems to be pretty busy.

I see from the front cover of 'Hello' magazine (no,I didn't buy it, I saw it on WHSmith's stall at a station) that the Nation unites in grief.

Grief? How could they know that?

                Remebrance, perhaps , but 'grief'?

                Good grief...

Hello? I think that a large sector of the country is united in something - perhaps in just feeling this is a very rare occurrence in our own lives and we're here living though it. For many people it IS an emotional time.

But as I've said, 'national mourning' is just an official term. I'm phlegmatic enough <cough, cough> to wait patiently until it's all over.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'm close to indifference to all of this.

While in London the other day I was informed by an Evening Standard billboard during the procession - I was not close to it, despite having to humour a sibling - that a "mourning London" was "gridlocked". Well, if traffic moving pretty much as freely as ever along Piccadilly and around Hyde Park Corner is gridlock...
