The 'nambawan pikinini bilong Mises Kwin' spoke the local creole language as he and the Duchess of Cornwall began a tour to mark the Queen's diamond jubilee year. Here's a vocabulary lesson for beginners
....I'm hoping for a Renaissance [be it a post-modern one] and New Restoration (I'm sure someone is having their bathroom done)....I wonder if some of the 'odd' happenings/appearances that happened at Harry and Megs do will happen....I'MHOPING FOR NEW TOMORROW [cue Coca-Cola song....]
I will not be watching the coranation ....please inform me afterwards if Charles at all resembles a Twit/upperclass twit...
Because she was married to the King. When I was at school at some point we did some sort of play/study text to do with Victoria before and after her accession( a rather complicated phase of royal history) and I have always remembered her mother being very firmly told that no, she would not become Queen Mother, she would be the Queen's Mother, as she was not the King's wife.

Well if you haven't made your mind up on that one after all these years I'm not sure that one day will make a difference?
.... I see that Camilla is a "Her Majesty". Poor old Prince Philip (or "Nambawan Bigfela Belong Missus Kwin" as we we called him in Pidgin when in Vanuatu) was only ever a "His Royal Highness". Curious gendered asymmetry...
We need a new category of CMG... (Commoner made good), no? Or CGL? (Commoner got lucky).
I mean, divine right of Kings and all that.... I'm not in the Camilla fan club you understand.

In other news, the pope is apparently a Catholic.
I shall be in a heavily laden vehicle somewhere between Munich and The Hague, on the second leg of housemoving. Probably I won’t see any indication that the event is taking place, despite the relative Germanness of Karl III.

... but if you went by way of Nuremberg, Würzburg, Göttingen, you would pass thro' Hanover - and could pay appropriate respects!

Right now it seems that some are referring to her as Queen Camilla while others call her the Queen Consort; the latter seems far more appropriate, especially given that her father-in-law was never called King Philip...

It's noted that the official invitations are from Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. I dunno, I feel probably 'Queen Camilla' is the most incongruous aspect of it all. It was once speculated that Charles might take the title George VII, much as George VI was Albert or Bertie. I thought perhaps the new Queen might take Mary as her official name. Or Anne. Or Elizabeth. A number of female consorts seem to have had rather unfortunate fates.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I think Charles regarded this taking of other names on accession as archaic.
