    Pianists onboard?

I was wondering if we have pianists in our midst and if so can we have a thread or sub-forum for people who are maybe learning or intermediate to professional players, so we can discuss any questions or discuss music they are currently playing?

What a good idea! I've been playing the piano since I was 7, did all my grades, prepared for the level 1 diploma and then, while the pandemic was on, stopped playing so often. I'm currently working on getting my technique back after this hiatus so any tips from others would be great.
    Best regards,
    Jonathan

The simple answer is, on a keyboard, yes.
A string player might treat them slightly differently.

Just a notation issue really. Germans call B H; their B conforms to our B flat (think BACH and variations thereon).

Good idea for a thread, btw.

I would be up for this. I have been taking lessons for a few months and your question is the kind of thing I puzzle about. It would be nice if I didn’t have to wait a week for the lesson to get answer. Perhaps players at Jonathan’s level may also find it useful..
We were at the Chicago Symphony concert last night. The store was selling a pillow with the saying “Without Music Life Would Bb “

Peter Katin was one of our members for a number of years.

... I believe Eine Alpensinfonie is still a member. A pianist and clarinettist, I believe

                  .

Good of you to say so. I wouldn’t call myself a clarinettist though.

That’s interesting, but he’s still on the list of “late members”.

'Late' in the sense of no longer being alive.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

His most recent post dates from some 26 months or so before his departure from life. Much missed.

Absolutely! I’ve made it a mission to try to collect as many of his recordings as I can find.

I think he was quite ill towards the end. A very modest, generous man.
