What gets ever more insane in all this is when one contemplates the country that will be left for who? - fgs, to re-construct. There is going to be an awful dearth of menfolk....

The point of the article is to set the record straight on what Jeremy Corbyn actually said about Putin, about Russian money funding the Tories, about NATO's eastward expansion. Those of us who were listening knew all this already, as of course do Corbyn's smearers among the media and politicians of both major parties. And yet the smears went on, and still go on, even now that he's not only no longer Labour leader but actually suspended from the party.

No, not that he has to be biased, but that he may be. I need more time to study the history of Middle East Eye as I don't know the source. 'Credibility' is worth studying: do we consider 'credible' people whose opinions we agree with? And vice versa, rubbish the ones we disagree with? Am I biased because I remember the disagreement in the PLP over the Skripal case? Who isn't biased?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It isn't a question of you or anyone else being biased.

Why have the 'friends' of Ukraine apparently failed to provide its forces with the means to sink Russian war vessels off the coast of their country?

I remember seeing a documentary about Chernobyl, twenty or something years after the explosion. They were taking people on very time-limited tours, visitors in protective clothing wearing geiger counters. Nature had reclaimed the entire site - there were a few horrifying examples of mutations evident in species, but not as many has had been feared: nature was cleaning up, and I guess a country of the Ukraine's landmass could provide a valuable source for re-balancing the world's ecosystems if left unattended and untended. Perhaps the UN will be in a position to declare it a large nature reserve or Site of Special Scientific Interest: for which read Human Interest.

Not sure which side Iran is on in all of this. But the idea of Laurence Harvey... the worst of all male example setters of all those 1950s/60s movies!

according to R4 news Putin has asked for 'volunteers' from other countries (Syria was mentioned) to come and help in Ukraine. WW3 gets more likely with each day.

Not sure that needs to be such a big issue?

I'm cynical about any appendage of the US government being non-partisan and 100% factual. In fact during the Trump administration VoA became perhaps more politicised than ever, as this Seattle Times editorial alludes to. I've no reason to believe it has suddenly become whiter-than-white since the Biden administration ousted former Trump loyalists.
