Even if he did - so what?

For my part, I can admit to having voted for Con people on one or two occasions - but never in a General Election - and that's over many years. At local elections, I do look at what the candidates offer in terms of their ability etc. and make a judgment on that.
I can also say, having worked with some people at a local level, that often party politics doesn't have a lot to do with how well things get done. Assumptions about how others have voted, or which parties they might support, often turn out to be completely wrong.
I have been really surprised at that over the last decade or so.
With you, very much, re local elections. A dear friend who had for many years been a local councilor with Labour left outlook and was head of a local school for those with learning difficulties (not the Cyril Burt school) recommended that I vote for a local Conservative candidate on the basis of that candidate's support for 'green' initiatives. A 'good man fallen among Tories' as it were (with apologies to Alik West et al).

I'm afraid I've finally reached the point where I feel that the only choice I have left at election time is to spoil my ballot paper by 'writing in' somebody like - oh, let's say Prince Andrew - or not vote at all. I shall probably choose the latter.

I voted Tory in our local elections since I contacted my councillor re an issue that involved the bus route to the hospital where I worked being changed. I contacted him at 20.00 and was amazed to receive a reply 12 hours later. When I went to vote, I met the councillor who remembered my name and the issue I had raised. In fact, he put pressure on the bus company to re-instate the timetable which they duly did. So yes, I did vote Tory although I did comment to him as I left that I’d voted for the man and the party.

Please read House Rules to be reminded that party political posts are off limits. There are lots of web forums to air such views.
