Anyway seems that the recent problems were eventually fixed, and we are now back on mainland UK. Calmac does seem to be rather error prone, and that has a significant adverse effect on many offshore communities.
Disruption continues after CalMac's biggest ferry hit by technical fault https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotla...lands-65237610

Ships, boats, vessels, steamers. It depends when you are (or were) saying it. And of course pedantry intrudes at times.
Overheard conversation on the sea front in Devon:
Mother to child: Oh, look at all the litttle boats.
Retired Admiral: They are Yachts, madam!
I've known people who only call a three-masted full rigged sailing vessel a ship, the others being barques, schooners, steamers, etc.
Then there's the hoary old question. How many ropes are there on a full-rigged ship?
Pedant's answer: One: the bell-rope. All the others are stays, sheets, yards, braces, etc.

What time signature would you recommend for that one? Seems almost anything goes!
