I didn't post it here, did I? that a newly-elected Republican senator declared that 76 years ago his father had fought in World War Two to 'rid Europe of socialism'. At least we were spared Attlee, Bevan and all those socialists swarming in and taking over <shudder>.

And to be fair to his fellow Americans, he was pretty well ridiculed for the declaration.
