It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

"Rishi"* seems to be about disappoint an awful lot of people.

(*Rishi in quotes to suggest the image of him that has been perpetrated in the mass media).

When it comes to reincarnation, I would quite like to come back as a corporate lawyer, or a member of a string quartet, were it not for the lure of the thrill of diving into the sea at 90 mph as a gannet. I would of course insist on being fitted with a plastics waste warning system.

In reincarnation you might be allowed to do all three - dependent on you having been a good boy in previous lives, mind!

Frightening possibilities there, Jr. But the Dems know all that, Bernie Sanders and the Progressive Democrats are pushing them to do something, the American people rejected Trump last time, the majority will do so decisively again over Covid for starters.

The American people also have the inalienable right to make the same mistake again (as do we, come to that, when the time comes).

You mean, the alienated right - in all senses, I presume.

Well that will give him parity with the rest of the cabinet!

The Presidential Debate is being broadcast at 2 am our time. Anybody up for it? I might try.
The last time I set the clock for an American broadcast was when Floyd Paterson was fighting somebody in about 1962. Paterson was knocked out in the first round, I think, but by the time I got myself together the fight was over. I lost interest in boxing soon after that. I'll be up for Biden so I hope Trump does a Floyd Patterson.

I'd love to watch, but the paint on the wall isn't quite dry.

Same here. Not sure how long I’ll last. Set to record, anyway. I might quickly revert to the other nocturnal US event I recorded... less than 24 hours ago! It’s the Monday night NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I reckon I can wait for the inevitable 'highlights' later tomorrow morning.

Well, if the public don't take to Trump's aggressive, bulleying, insulting behaviour (and it seems they don't), he didn't do himself any favours with this performance. 73 times he interrupted/disrupted what Biden was saying? And Biden held out if he didn't land all the punches.

Didn't watch, but that seems to be the morning's analysis.

                                Extraordinarily depressing about American democracy.
