    Rethink on the BBC

A series of programmes across the BBC radio platforms on what the world could/should be in the post-Corona world started airing today:

Rethink looks at the issues of our time and considers how we can approach them differently

    Could/should be interesting.

If only it were NOT Amol Rajan leading at a galloping million mph, poor grammar, Tom Service like delivery, and poorer interview skills.
How on earth he's got to be i/c media [Our Media Editor? Erm..??] etc etc I do not know.

Probably another manifestation of the squeeze item into limited timeslot mindset that now characterises much of BBC serious issue coverage, rather than some glib couldn't care less whether or not you're interested, we're only covering this to cover out backsides attitude, on the part of Mr Rajan.

Amazingly, EXACTLY the same 'Rethink' programme was on BBC World Service at EXACTLY the same time this a.m. Weird.

Strange - I have no problem with Mr Rajan, whereas I find I can't listen to Mr S for more than a couple of sentences before giving up.

Maybe the BBC R4 could ReThink
                putting background music throughout,
rather than just at the beginning/end,
                of its documentary programmes.
                It almost endemic now.

                  We need more music
a composer (not me) gets paid to write it

And in these times it's hard enough

maybe they could just go back to speech radio + avoid the unnecessary muzak - if the 'composers' of such are penniless maybe they could find a new job. Likewise they could get rid of the trails department which judging from the amount broadcast must be absorbing 10% or more of staff effort for I suspect little benefit.

Music has many forms and many contexts

and as for folks deciding that some music is "unnecessary" unless you are talking about oratorios ......
