One of the few sets of statistics that is both informative and reasonably reliable is the NHS England Hospital Deaths by Date of Death.
There was a steady decline until 2nd May but it then flattened out, at least until 7th May. The figures after 7th May will be subject to considerably upwards revision so can't really be taken into consideration.
The chart does show a very slight decline between 2th and 7th May (avg of ~3 per day) but that might well disappear with the coming daily revisions.
This plateau effect only seems to show up in this specific data, but then it is arguably the most useful and reliable data we have.
Should we be concerned? I'm not sure
Notes:
The cumulative data is revised each day as the day's newly reported deaths are distributed back over the days in which the deaths actually occurred.
Of the daily reported deaths very roughly 85% tend to have occurred over the previous 5 days with the other 15% spread over the preceding two or three weeks.

I must confess to rather liking his writing/style, but I can see that it might not suit all (and probably especially those he's critical of!).

"Go on about LGBTQ issues" ? You wouldn't say that if you were LGBT..... you think all those battles are over...? Think again....
Owen Jones is a polemical hero on political and LGBTQ issues.... agree or not, but listen to him, from whatever point in the spectrum of humanity you come...
...but please don't dismiss him as "irritating"... or with condescension about "gift of the gab" ....oh, please......... all that shows is your own (probably hetero-based) prejudices, latent or otherwise....
I used to "go on about" LGBT issues here, with dear, remembered Amateur 51.... often we got told off or suppressed for it....
(...sorry Pulcinella, I see you're probably uptospeed about all this...)

Step increase in violations of lockdown/adequate distancing/prohibition of travelling to family over Easter? Certainly saw anecdotal evidence of it here and elsewhere in the country...

I see very little wrong with the writing, or the opinions expressed there. But then I wouldn't, would I?
