Several years ago when I was doing some research at STEIM in Amsterdam I went to a gig where (like lots of folks) someone was using hacked Wii controllers to create electronic music/images. In order for the devices to pair correctly, everyone had to go outside with any devices they had and walk to the end of the road and back to ensure the pairing worked.
Bluetooth is one thing (along with ethernet-based mixing desks and a few other daft ideas) that I would avoid.
Furthermore, as one of the most famous residents of the IOW will tell us, the whole thing is a conspiracy by the evil lizards who are going to suck out our souls while the music of Willie Nelson plays on an endless loop (gives me an idea for a gig)

How are these things suppose to work? Is that idea that several person's positions are calculated, and then if two come close a check is made to see if one or other has a problem (such as previous or current exposure to CV-19). Is this to be done in real time, or post some form of data collection? Then since presumably there is some id information associated with each phone - one or both owners are now notified of the contact. What would they then be supposed to do with that information?
What would happen if they didn't comply with the recommendation based on the information received?
In the meantime, there is at least one third party which knowns the details of the contact, and whatever concern was of interest. Note that the "concern of interest" doesn't have to be anything at all related to CV-19.
The claim is that presumably the "third party" - the little "man" inside the centralised computer system - can't or won't pass on "his" data to any "unauthorised" person - so we're back to trust all over again.
Could it be worth risking such trust in order (perhaps) to stay alive?

Ok, I really dont know anything about these apps.
So a question :
What would this proposed app give the NHS/ GCHQ / Government that they couldn’t or don’t already get from my iphone as I travel around?
I always assume stuff on my phone , data, locations visited etc, is easily retrievable if required by the authorities.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

What is needed (and the expertise is around) is some real hacking to frustrate them.
