Thanks for the suggestion. I have wondered about a taxi. It's all about risk - either use a bus where there *might* only be 3 or 4 passengers per deck or use a taxi where one is in relatively close proximity to the driver. To be honest I don't fancy either option. We'll see.

I’d like to force Hospital Administrators to sit and triage patients and see how sanguine they feel about it
Richard, it sounds a dreadful situation that you and your health worker colleagues to be in. My heart goes out to you all (as well to our UK NHS staff, many of whom are also in completely unenviable situations).

Please forgive me for "bumping" this post in case it gets lost. I think it refers to important information - though others might disagree.

I personally think it is too detailed and complex for most of us to make sense of at this time, and interpreting it will no doubt be a lot easier later on - with hindsight. There is some interesting data in there though - but how many of us are able to consider that. It does seem to show that at the moment the major problem areas are in the London area and SE, but that's the state of affairs now, and that could change in a week or two. Also Scotland is not included in the data.

Around these parts, those buses that are still running contain, on average, one occupant (and that's including the driver), so I would have thought they might represent a safer environment that other forms of transport,

It would apperar that he has so many holiday snaps that those which can't be displayed in his waiting room are tastefully displayed in or on his car. As long as we can continue to display such ingenuity, our future as a nation is secured. (I do appreciate that this sort of thing may cause some people to grind their teeth).

And I'm not sure of the relevance of this post to the thread is, either.

Walking, or the one o'clock bus (two passengers on average) if the safest for me. I walk to and from work at night, and now the local Co-op closes early, pass precisely no-one.

I was reading last night of the difference between arrangements in the Netherlands and here, rather surprised that they seemed to be behind. An email this morning from family there brought those differences home. Yesterday's fine weather was enjoyed by a family gathering in the garden, for a meal and to do some reconstruction, while keeping the 1.5m distancing.

This doesn't look good - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52177586 Tigers now have it, so perhaps cross species transfer is possible. Next thing domestic cats might get it - ugh! Or maybe some animal species already have it - just as with the asymptomatic humans a potentially large population of hazards.
