And ditched significant parts of the actions required for dealing with a flu pandemic as in existence several years ago. The advice and conclusions were there but not fully enacted, so doubly culpable.
There is some 'interesting' reading in this https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-conten...ndemic-flu.pdf

There are many comments I could make about that but I don't think I need to ...We all on here have minds and can use them.
I'll go with the heart o1o - best wishes to the PM, and to all who get the virus, for a speedy recovery,

We're not taking the right approach even now....
Fully agree with you. To not be testing our healthcare workers is nothing short of gross negligence. Below is an extract from an email sent to me by a doctor friend..

Well done for the pulse oximeter. On our psychiatric wards we have 1/3 of confirmed cases for Shropshire and a death today sadly.

All good here otherwise. I remain on as locked down a position as can be maintained. My argument to not go in/ see people currently is no provision of sanitising hand gel ( a core WHO requirement for low risk community PPE )

Spoke to a nurse today who’s doing doing all our community blood tests. The level of PPE and training is woeful. A simple thing today I told her - politely put a surgical mask on any patient she’s taking bloods from and tell them to dispose of it themselves afterwards. “No one had told me that” “ I’m only issued 3 masks per day”

My reusable full face respirator is arriving on 9th April (ordered myself)

Great to hear that the MU is there to help no only its members but musician non-members, too. Let's hope those in the latter category it helps have the sense and gratitude to join.

Same here regarding testing Health Care workers and lack of PPE. Plastic face shields are now being touted and should be easy to be cranked out by any small factory with CNC machine capability. Hopefully they will soon be ubiquitous

Radio 4 news item yesterday. The Royal Mint will be producing plastic face shields, but they need to source clear plastic stock. The design is approved for use.

Meanwhile, the Sanctions against Iran Petition has reached 13, 819.

As of today, 2,336 cases have now been confirmed in Iran and Iran has a high ratio of deaths to infections – now about 3.3%. Sanctions against Iran should be lifted immediately to help its populace and prevent the global spread of infection.
