Resounded and rebounded off the walls here; not sure the sound would have carried quite so far as that of the minster bells, which I can occasionally hear, though.

6 out of 11 houses here. A short burst of applause, a little whoop and a whistle.

Apart from Coronavirus considerations I personally have already recorded on the Forum my deepest gratitude to the NHS, and when I meet uniformed nurses and carers on duty about the town I make a point of referring to them as the Angels of Mercy.

Please continue to discuss the topic of deliveries, either here or on a new thread, but keep it friendly, so that nothing has to be moderated.
Not to worry. I was surprised at what came up on that thread. My deliveries are nothing like as essential as some that were mentioned - though I would like to have them, and it would be good to have them sooner, rather than later, but apart from getting food deliveries and an occasional prescription, other than being helpful to stop me going crazy during this period of enforced isolation, it wouldn’t matter if none of them came.

I can start another thread - or maybe someone else feels strongly enough to set one up.

Here it went on for many minutes - lots of whoops, clapping, banging of tin cans. It's that kind of area.

Yes, and with a song! and we could hear the ripples of applause around the village.

I'm afraid that the sheep just looked bemused at me. Good idea, though.

I went out to clap, but the street was deserted.

I wonder if Mr Dyson's ventilators will proudly state (in blue): Not for sale in the EU.

Not only Dyson, but other manufacturers may have produced devices which increase the spread of diseases, such as hand dryers. I don't know whether there is a lot of solid evidence that the high speed hand dryers do spread viruses further, and faster, but it seems plausible to me. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/t...t-hand-dryers/

https://www.sciencealert.com/bathroo...pread-bacteria There is obviously a difference between spreading viruses and bacteria, and some bacteria may not be that dangerous.

However, it would be good to know that Dyson's hand dryers haven't actually made a bad situation worse, or will do so now that the CV virus is spreading faster round the UK.

Good to see one of those articles repeating the key point that’s eluded Tr**p that hand sanitizer (misnoma) is a poor second choice to washing.
