We've been out for a nice walk this afternoon - we were supposed to be on holiday in Gozo by now but obviously thanks to this infernal virus, that was cancelled (still awaiting a refund though). We kept the days off work though which is a good excuse to get on with redecorating the bathroom which has been on the cards for a while, plus the Cowrie part of my shell collection is in the correct order for the first time in years. Now to sort the rest out...

Now if I can just get a refund on my train ticket to London for the British Shell Collectors Club show which has been cancelled, that would be gr...literally as i typed that, I've had an email, it's being processed. Good.

Derbyshire police have posted a drone video of people with cars visiting the Peak District to walk, with or without dogs. Their statement was that the cars should not be there, as this was 'non-essential travel'. I suppose if you walk all the way - would that be considered 'travelling'?

A horse owning friend made a comment that puts another perspective on non-essential travel perhaps. She said she thought that riding might be subject to a ban to avoid accidents putting unnecessary demand on the NHS, and indeed the BHS advises on those lines at the moment. Those people driving in order to go for walks are also taking that risk for a non-essential purpose?

....Might go out into field adjacent....saw a golf ball in the dog shed this morning - that and a couple of walking sticks for clubs, should get the neighbours talking....I'm known as silly around here, so I'll maybe give em a laugh, with the right amount of seriousness in my addressing the ball, keeping my hands aloft after stroke....and bravado....of course....

Haven’t read all of this thread but surely the simple point is it’s not a risk worth taking and just as if not more importantly you run the risk if you get it of infecting others. Why are people so ******** selfish? Added to which it’s a gruesome affliction if it takes hold and even though our gormless government has been slower off the blocks than the proverbial one legged man at an ar8e-kicking contest, we’ve still had the chance to stop it ruining our future. And still people think they know better!

Sorry about this. I take full responsibility for its deletion. Hosts can usually reverse adjustments made when house rules are broken, but it appear that I did something more drastic and obliterated the thread altogether - entirely by mistake.

I have an honorary niece who is an NHS nurse: her message is "you don't want to get it, you just don't!!!" She has already seen some terrible things and it's going to get worse. I for one am no longer going to try and console myself with black humour.
