I have a horrible sinking feeling at the moment. I'm living in a London Borough with nearly 50 confirmed virus cases which could be the tip of the iceberg. My wife was recently diagnosed with serious type2 diabetes. My health and mobility have be poor for years. After what seems to have been such a long, dark and wet winter, the promise of a spring renewal has been dashed to pieces.
The selfishness of others shows no bounds as the Supermarket shelves are striped bare and on-line deliveries are on the point of collapse. Yesterday I witnessed a huge Sainsburys food delivery at house across the road from us. AFAIK just four adults live at this address. Four large crates were wheeled to the front door and the delivery man stood there while the customer slowly emptied them and took the food etc. inside. Then another four crates were wheeled to the house! If the eight crates had been piled on top of one another they would have been as tall as a front door. This single delivery took ages to get of the van etc and must have taken more than 40mins altogether. In that time, probably three normal deliveries could have been made.
Someone needs to get a grip of this kind of thing (and a lot else) before the whole situation melts down, or all us oldies are for the chop.

I understand some supermarkets are restricting to three items. It doesn't stop the hoarders, but it adds the hassle of having to make repeated trips to circumvent restrictions - by which time many non-hoarders might have met their requirements. Mind, three items can mean three bags each containing 20 toilet rolls!

Why all this fuss about toilet rolls. They are a fairly newfangled product. What's wrong with a bowl of warm, soapy water and a facecloth (saved for the purpose), followed by a towel, similarly reserved?
Exercising indoors today. Weather too drab to entice me outside. Early next week looks better though. I will have to be more careful when walking in the usually deserted woods then. With the schools closed, who knows what feral kids might get up to?
Aren't they more likely to be texting each other or trying to access the Dark Web?

When my granny ran out of toilet rolls - which happened quite often - we used pages torn from the previous day's 'Daily Express'.
OK - but now we are reducing things to a personal level - "he said, she said, they said ...." as though that really matters. Just because Andrew Bridgen appears to be a very rich so and so, ....
So, Betty Windsor is starting early her Easter residency in the Castle from which her Grandfather took the new family name. Such residencies are usually accompanied by daily guard changes, rather than the 3 days a week the rest of the year. I wonder whether the current emergency will see a temporary halt to such ceremonial displays? The current online schedule shows changing of the guard proceeding on a daily basis from Saturday.

TBH I think that the media (as ever) have a hell of a lot to answer for in making this front-page news all the time...it becomes self-perpetuating.
