Seems a bit pointless as there are reportedly asymptomatic carriers around. Should the virus really get a grip cinema , theatre , restaurants , sports events etc will either be limited or fall away as people become increasingly reluctant to attend.

We have a friend who swears by homeopathic "medicine" and treatment. I think her husband treats it as a joke.

            Typical interaction:

"I felt ill, so went to the doctor. Prescribed some tablets. After 2 days no result, so went to homeopath. 3 days later I felt much better." Ergo homeopathic treatment better than GP's.

Following up on my earlier posting #60, how much of a moral issue is it to interfere with people who are doing things which appear to be misguided? If one decides that their activity is basically harmless, and only going to affect them - then let it go - perhaps.

However, it may be that their activity - or inactivity - because of their beliefs, is not harmless to them. Should one intervene?

It may also be that that their activity - or inactivity - because of their beliefs is harmful - or potentially harmful to others. Should one intervene? [The obvious answer is "yes" - but change the subject under discussion from "medicine" and "health" to "religion" and see what happens.]

What about a=415? - I suppose old recorders aren't allowed. But then they don't begin with V, so already banned under another rule.

I've just been looking at the BBC News app and there's a point that 'Recently retired Dr's and nurses could be recalled'. What exactly does that mean? That recently retired staff could be MADE to return to the NHS? Could there be some law introduced that would make it compulsory?

                      Seems pretty draconian.

I think it's more a case of invitation and reregistration.

I've been out and about this morning and I have to say I encountered a fair degree of cynicism about the way the media and the government are handling this issue. More than one person wondered how many people had died from flu in the UK yesterday. The receptionists at our health centre have been told to wear face masks but there are apparently none to be found.

Yes - where does one obtain effective face masks, as opposed to the flimsy paper ones that only prevent an infected person infecting others, to some extent? I didn't see any of either type at either the local pharmacy or the supermarket yesterday.

Like much else probably made in China where I suspect local demand now outstrips supply - just one more effect of the near total destruction of British manufacturing as capital shifted to China with its then lower wages and freedom from many of the annoying environmental issues.
