I'm afraid I have as far as possible simply given up listening to news outlets - media or newspapers . The relentless misery, the shouting louder and louder to get their message across in a 'crowded market' is seriously getting me down.
On BBC radio at least, almost every other programme, or maybe even EVERY programme, thinks it has to include or concentrate on issues involved. Pah.

And as for The Archers -fixated for days and days on the Linda Snell stuff. Blimey, I see that without any virus stuff at all, the nation is being dragged to suicide just by her endlessness. Suddenly everyone in TA is being elaborately saintly, comforting, eye-wateringly unlike their usual selves. Crikey!

      TA, get thinking,.

The difference is that Covid 19 deaths are increasing exponentially, while the others will be relatively steady. If no mitigating actions were taken by any country, there could be as many as 40 million deaths worldwide from Covid 19.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

The important context is that a total of one item on that list could likely blast its way from the bottom to the top in a matter of weeks if no action were taken/was already being taken.

For further important context the starkest numbers from the same source that have been omitted from that list are:

34,504,804 Births (so far) this year
14,485,989 Deaths (so far) this year
20,019,146 Net population growth (so far) this year

Seemingly, nobody much ever talks about this. Trying to reduce humanity's toll on the environment in the face of it is largely like stacking water.

If CV-19 does turn out to be as bad as, or worse than, the 1918 pandemic, 50M excess deaths would merely be a brief burst of nature successfully retaliating via viral evolution before the onslaught resumes.

You are missing the point. Totally. I won't even try to explain.

I reckon it will be the end of Peggoi
or Ben will have caught it from the doctor he "entertained" ?

On a more serious note... not looking such a great "opportunity" now is it?

Strangely enough, last night we watched an episode of 'Seinfeld' in which a character dies after licking what turned out to be toxic adhesive on cheap envelopes containing wedding invitations. I'm not sure whether she did all 200 before collapsing and being rushed to hospital.
