Thanks for drawing the attention JR. A new Adam Curtis TV documentary, tracing with his usual comprehensiveness the inbuilt mainstream character of latter day global food production and its aetiology is surely way overdue?

Seems to be a ban on mail generally - haven’t had anything by post for over a week.

I’d be interested to know if others’ post is getting through...

Received my replacement bankers cards this morning - each one had ben posted separately. Also I seem to be getting huge amounts of scary correspondence from my share portfolio manager and his firm almost every other day right now - which I'd much rather not be having to receive.

All well down here AFAIK - we had one item of post delivered today.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

It wasn't one of last year's Christmas cards, was it?

Thanks, oddoneout. She did have several underlying health problems but the shock remains:

Her last Sound Out programme, broadcast live on the 10th of this month, is, along with many other, available here:

Resonance FM also broadcast a selection of ten of her programmes in a 7 hour stretch on Sunday 22nd in tribute:

Glad I don’t live in Hungary. The govt there has just declared a state of emergency, and given Orban apparently unlimited powers, including:

                        - State of emergency w/o time limit
                        - Parliament suspended and replaced by rule by decree
                        - No elections
                        - Spreading fake news + rumors: up to 5 yrs in prison
                        - Leaving quarantine: up to 8 yrs in prison
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

A good repost to the Mail's, Trumps and U.K.miniters' racist jibes at China's handling of the outbreak, too. Whatever the negative aspects China's rulers' activities in other areas of policy, they appear to have acted quickly and effectively in approaching this outbreak, individual rumour-mongering by some of their 'diplomats' notwithstanding, and are now doing what they can to assist countries throughout the world.
