Edit soon enough and only those quick enough to see the original will know.

Oh bad luck. Good thing it wasn't your freezer though - I hear those are in short supply as a consequence of the panic buying/stockpiling of food.

What rotten luck. I have a sinking feeling though that even if you were to get one, then you may find that an engineer may not be willing to enter your place to connect it. Fingers crossed for you. One thing you might like to consider is one of the multi-function microwave ovens that come with grill and oven as well as the microwave. The advantage is that they simply plug into a normal socket.

We've used the Sharp R959 for many years. The internal size is also very very generous.

I ordered a whole bunch of electrical kit, gadgets etc. yesterday - which I might still change or cancel, but they all now have a delivery date of April 19th. It could be logistics which is doing this. Another friend who lives closer to the metropolis is still getting deliveries within a few days.
I did, however, get a book today - which was only a couple of days after ordering.

For info-it should be possible to edit previous posts, even including the header if there is one. For the header/headline one has to go into Advanced first. I'm not absolutely sure about the first post in a thread - at one time one did seem to have to ask an admin helper to do that.

Re tonight - Seems Boris has seen the light at last, and really trying to get things clamped down. PIty he didn''t do it a few days ago, but nevertheless this is (IMO) a very good step. I think he did well.

Real shame about the gas oven -msg 799, but as mentioned microwave ovens can do quite well - particularly the combo ones. We have had that kind of thing for years, though they're pretty useless for making cakes. Maybe they have got better. Order one quickly before they either become unavailable, or nobody will do deliveries. You might need a toaster as well - depends what your modus operandi are.

Amazon are making regular changes to their logistics and sales mechanisms. Book pre orders were stopped, but then re started. Book deliveries into the main Amazon warehouses are stopped at present, and order times to customers extended. My guess is that the national book wholesalers will be doing a lot of fulfillment, as they are really slick outfits.

Yup...Amazon announced that they are prioritising items that are relevant to the situation we're in. A lot of things that one might need are in short-supply or on very long lead-times. But beware...there are some companies out there who are fake. Take-your-money-and-run. Ninelife is one such scam company.

Serious question: will I still be able to cultivate my garden? I share the area with one other woman - and a dog [hers] !!!!

A similar question might be asked by allotment holders. Perhaps a sensible policy may emerge. If you are growing vegetables this might become important.

He first assaulted the (much smaller than him) female assistant trying to prevent him from buying the extra packs, and then when a security guard tried to move him away from the female assistant, he spat in the security guard’s face.

Thanks ts, (and Anastasius) something like that would probably suit me better. The gas oven is one left over from my late parents and now is a fine time for it to go!

That looks extremely good - my ancient electric cooker is reaching senility now, the two smaller of the four hobs starting to crumble away. That little item could do me fine!

I got an unused "previously owned" somewhat smaller tabletop oven with hotplates from and Greeford charity shop for a fiver a couple of years ago. Very handy as a standby, though not big enough for a turkey, more like a brace of wood pigeons, or maybe a pheasant or poussin.
