But what's the mechanism for recording actual cases ? How many people have contracted the virus and are self-isolating at home ? If either my wife or I got infected, the thought of reporting to anyone would be furthest from my mind. And how or to whom would we report it ?

So my point being that perhaps the number of cases is under-reported.

And possibly by a very wide margin. Also, how about testing for non-symptomatic carriers. I, for instance, am without symptoms, having stayed with someone 11 days before she was killed by it. I'd feel far more assured re not putting other in danger if I could be tested. In sub-symtomatic carriers there lies a horrible threat for the future. I don't think I am infected but I'd rather know, one way or the other.

The actual number of people who are or who have been infected is vastly, vastly higher than the cases confirmed by testing. Probably by a factor of 1,000.

Local Sainsbury saga pt 2: NOW, there are no click-and-collect slots as well as no home deliveries, and NO response from 'Help Centre' - engaged signal all day.
So two-fingers 'stuff it' to govt about avoiding queuing at checkouts or too-close mixing.............

One of our neighbours works as a Tesco home delivery van driver. He's now a key worker. Good for him. There's a three week waiting list for home deliveries, but the local store is trying to identify more vulnerable clients. He had a horrendous story from the store today. A man tried to check out 5 boxes of eggs. When politely told that only 2 boxes per person were allowed, he dropped the other three on the floor, stamped on them and said, "Well if I can't ****** have them, no-one else can."

I'm going out with my partner and two children for a bicycle ride tomorrow morning. Then my partner and I will go about our food shopping (after a shower). This will all be allowable under current restrictions, so I don't think we are on a strict lockdown.

I read a story yesterday about a paramedic being asked to leave by his landlady who was 'super nervous' that he would bring the disease home with him. A paramedic! I hope people like this are a tiny minority but I imagine we are about to find out.

A moral perplexity. The landlady is of course right, but is it the virtuous thing to do?

No change there for me and, I hope, most others contributing here. My sympathies are with those, like my next-door neighbour, whose workload and a ploce constable is likely to get rather more oneraous as a result of the new, enforceable, restictions.

Why does it take the two of you to shop? Can not one of you stay at home with the children, following your one session of daily outdoor exercise?
