How are you celebrating Thatcher's and Currie's birthday this year? I'm booked up for COVID booster and flu jabs at Waitrose (it's also my late aunt Olive's birthday).

Don't think I have anything for that date in my diary at present. Happy to send Aunt Olive a birthday card if she weren't late. I follow the now weekly figures produced by .gov, and the MSOA in which I live and the neighbouring one (I'm just on the boundary) have now reached the enviable 'white' category (fewer than 3 cases in the last 7 days). The Bristol city rate is now 2.5% of what it was last January. I still wear my mask in shops and don't consider the pandemic over. I shall get my booster when my practice tells me when to go.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

My GP surgery texted me a few days ago to invite me to book. October 13th was the earliest date on offer to me. I just hope the local bus services are staffed sufficiently to run that day. It's all a bit of a gamble of late here, as elsewhere.

Small bottle of milk drunk with collapsed wax paper straw, and runny scrambled eggs?

I get ever more annoyed that "right-thinking" people thought we shouldn't party when Thatcher popped her clogs. I reckon we should reinstate an annual celebration on that date.

Brain fog isn’t like a hangover or depression. It’s a disorder of executive function that makes basic cognitive tasks absurdly hard.

I think prevalence is still estimated by ONS survey. Government public health has "given up", but outside government many are still pushing for mitigations. (For example, the Independent SAGE group...)

Your quote related to this thread rather than the economics thread, so I copied it over rather than introduce an off-topic post there! So human agency rather than smart software.

I'm not sure how to take this one. Interesting. I'll have to read it a few more times.

Impossible not to infer a cover up.
