As a matter of fact, I did, Bryn. I waited for just under 50 mins to create that unbelievable coincidence With added information.

Zoe - Greek ζωή - means life; the company was set up by the King's Coll guys to study the effects of diet and the app was quickly tweaked to be used for the Covid study. I have completed every day since I started, reporting each time when I had my two jabs (I have never had a test), detailing the side effects (not much). Unlike my brother who reports now and again when he feels like it. He is not punctilious.

If you're a backwoodsman, then so am I. BST it is. DST is, of course, a ridiculous term...

When I had my first jab in February I was told to wait for notification for my second jab, which would be sometime during the first two weeks of April, and not to contact the surgery. Now that availability of the vaccines is under some threat, and people are being advised on radio and TV by various people to book their jab - it never says first of second - I'm left wondering if I should be taking the initiative getting onto the surgery?

I was also told that I would be informed when I would be ready to have my second injection in the same way as I was informed of the first (by text from my GP). The last thing the surgery want is for their receptionists to be inundated with panicked punters clogging up the telephone lines. The vaccination rollout is continuing at pace here so I intend waiting as per instructions. My 12 weeks isn't up until May 8 in any case.

There seem to be some opportunities to nip in early , including left over doses at end of the day, which they will want to avoid wasting. If I was keen to get the second dose early, I’d find my local vaccination centres and get on my bike. Not that I have a bike. But I know you do.....

I had my first jab (from my local GP surgery) at the end of January. Last week I had a text message inviting me to make an appointment for my second jab, which I had on Saturday (also at my local GP surgery), 8 weeks after the first.

From what I can remember the interval between FF's first and second jabs weren't all that different.

This is the arrangement I have, but I am working on the basis that as the second will be done, as was the first, at my GP surgery, they will plan things out to ensure that a) they know who is due for the second dose at any one time and b) that they will monitor supplies accordingly to ensure that they can get those done, if necessary by delaying first doses for lower priority groups.
I had been getting worried that waiting to hear from the surgery for my fist jab wasn't going to happen, but their records evidently flagged up that I hadn't been done so I am reasonably confident that the system will work again for the second, and happy to observe the request not to phone about appointments for now.
The reminders on radio and TV are I think just part of the general and continued push to get the majority done, and not necessarily any indication that those already 'in the system' should do anything differently from what they have been told. If you were in one of the higher groups and still waiting for the first dose that would be a different matter, as some have indeed been missed out for whatever reason - out of date contact details likely in many cases.

That's right, 8th Jan and 13th March - 9 weeks apart. I had been told 12 weeks in the first instance. I was rung by my surgery and offered specific slots.

My neighbour is very sure his GP surgery have a date down for his 2nd vaccination, but he waits for the actual invite. Family members - retired GPs, in a market town/country area vaccination centre relate how on one day supplies for the day didn't arrive until lunchtime, appointments had to be hastily re-arranged and they then worked until 9pm to use the doses. (But that was only one instance). Also of re-arranged days when informed of a deferral of supplies.

But what to do? Reading about the reasons for difficulties in Germany - their management of the campaign insists on a large percentage of the vaccination doses for the 2nd time being warehoused so there should be a low chance of running out of the 2nd. Yet the benefits of the 1st dose have proved to be so clear, perhaps we are relying more on receipt of supplies from those EU and other plants in something more of a "just in time" approach. I'm not inclined to criticise - if I get my 2nd dose in the 13th or 14th week in the end, I am more grateful for the protection I have had at the earliest possible date.

I was reading in the Observer online an article about criticism of Ursula VDL within the EU. Not the main focus of the article but it asserts that the UK is, and will remain, a very small producer of vaccinations and the focus should be on enabling the production capacity they are aiming for at EU plants.

The big vaccination sites in Cornwall are closing down for a temporary period at the beginning of April to ensure that the supplies are there for the mass second dose is available for promised appointments from mid April onwards.
