Same here: I was given the AZ at midday yesterday, and no side-effects since. Second jab in 12 weeks.

I asked about the an appointment for the next jab but they said "someone" would get in touch with me within 12 weeks.

Well there's going to be an interesting situation when all the first jab punters come due for their second within a fairly small time frame at the same time as trying to work through whichever next priority group(which is likely to be larger the further down the age range one goes) has been reached?

there was mention of a current research project with 800 volunteers using a diff type for 2nd jab - the Russian Sputnik V already adopts this approach within the 1st jab being a mix of two types and there was talk of mix + match with Oxford vaccine.

I think the procedure varies throughout the country. When I had the Pfizer/BioNTech last Sunday, I was given a card with the date and time of my second vaccination appointment on it. I was also advised to keep it safe and record the date and time elsewhere as a backup since there would be no reminder sent, either by post or electronically. That last point did and does seem rather silly. I was contacted re the first vaccination by text message. Why not generate a reminder the same way as insurance against the disruption non-attendance would cause?

First results of the UK's mix and match investigation is not expected until "the summer", it seems, so more of relevance to autumnal or later rounds of vaccination.

No, the local mass vaccination venue at the Waitrose Sports and Social Club. I am unlikely to forget since it falls 2 days after my birthday. I must make a particular note of the time, though.

That depends on how you define "shortage". There are obviously constraints on supply but that was always going to be the case.

My appointment was with my local GP practice, who rang me two days prior. It could be that there are different second appointment procedures for those receiving jabs at from GP practices and those who book through the national system and go to the vaccination hubs.
